If you’re on this site, you’re either considering the possibility of doing an overland journey or are currently in the process of completing one. Either way, welcome to OverlandVehicles.com!

My name is Boris Mordkovich – I’m a traveler and a business owner from the U.S. The idea behind this website came shortly after completing a 27,000km overland journey from South Africa to United Kingdom in a trusty 1980 Land Rover (actually pictured on the homepage!).

When we decided to do this journey and started looking for an appropriate vehicle that already had some of the overlanding gear – so we wouldn’t have to built it from scratch – we ran into a problem. Where do you go to find it? Certainly, there are a few forums out there, as well as your general auto marketplaces like eBay Motors or AutoTrader, but none of them really offered many options for what we needed. Through a stroke of luck, we found a Belgian traveler who was completing a 6-month tour of Southern Africa and had the perfect vehicle for us. We connected, bought it, and a month later were on the road!

Once the trip was coming to a close, we experienced a deja vu – but in reverse. My team and I were looking for a potential buyer for our vehicle in Europe. While it could be sold as a regular vehicle, the real value was in all of the equipment that we installed and customizations that we’ve made to turn it into a true overland vehicle. As such, we wanted to find another traveler who was interested in doing a similar route but in reverse and would benefit from the vehicle and everything that came with it.

However, we’ve faced the same issue as in the beginning. How do you find somebody that is planning to do a trans-continental African expedition and is interested in a vehicle with a roof top tent, a fridge and dual batteries? It was challenging – and it took a number of months before we found somebody who fit the bill and bought the vehicle.

There had to be a better way.

And so OverlandVehicles.com was born. Our team’s objective is threefold:

- To bring together buyers and sellers and create the largest active marketplace of overland expedition vehicles.

- To facilitate transactions by offering consulting and escrow services.

- To help overland travelers plan and prepare for their journeys by offering quality first-hand advice and resources.
